"We really can't thank Emma enough for her guidance. If you are thinking about working with Emma and are on the fence because of the bad experiences you've had with other professionals (like most parent's of babies with reflux), do, as you won't regret it. Our son is 8 months old and has just had a tongue tie cut after visiting a clinic following advice from Emma. Nearly 2 weeks later and our baby is the happiest he has been and finally I feel like I can relax and enjoy him.
I spent the first 7 months of Harry's life thinking that he was suffering from colic caused by reflux. I tried to breastfeed, but Harry kept falling off the latch and it was really painful. He never drained any milk from by breast, which meant I was constantly expressing and in the end after 4 weeks I switched to formula. I honestly thought breastfeeding just wasn't for us.
From the first couple of weeks of Harry's life he would squirm, arch his back and tense his face after a bottle. As he got older this turned into screaming after feeding and in the end only my husband or I could bottle feed him. If the position wasn't right on the bottle, if he wasn't winded after a certain amount and afterwards, properly, how we did it, we would have hours of screaming in pain.
Harry was constantly full of wind leading to a tummy ache. I saw the health visitor and 3 GP', all of them told me it was his immature digestive system causing reflux and that he would grow out of it when we started weaning. Harry was prescribed infant Gaviscon, which just caused horrendous constipation; milk thickener that caused such bad diarrhoea he ended up in and out of hours GP surgery; and Omeprazole.
Along came six months and weaning, constant sleepless nights. I though h wasn't ready for solids and could only feed him puree or he would choke on his food.
I got in touch with Emma as I was at the end of my tether thinking that this was normal baby behaviour and I was just doing it all wrong and should be able to cope with a crying baby. I was so upset seeing my baby constantly in pain, hearing his stomach gurgle and feeling on edge about feeding him. In the end I stopped leaving him with anyone unless necessary as it would always end up with hours of crying with trapped wind.
Emma did a really thorough consultation with us after requesting many different photos and videos. Everything Emma told us made complete sense. The was she understood the problems and showed me Harrys latch and position in the videos I sent her, finally gave me an explanation for the difficulty we had been going through.
Emma suggested some oral exercises, bottle changes, position changes, winding techniques and weaning advice. We implemented immediately.
Emma suggested we go to see a tongue tie specialist. It was confirmed Harry had a tongue tie. No other professional had suggested this may have been the cause of our troubles.
The Tongue Tie Centre commented on how thin this was and that they could tell we had been doing the exercises Emma suggested, which meant Harry was able to have the division 2 weeks later.
All the advice Emma has given around the tie, feeding techniques, exercises etc was spot on and the same as the specialist.
Emma is not afraid to refer to the right professionals to get you the help you need.
The most important thing though is that Emma is so passionate about he work. Having been through similar struggles, it was nice to finally feel heard and understood and not made ti feel like a neurotic mother that cannot cope with a new baby.
If it wasn't for working with Emma, I would probably still be pacing the landing with a crying baby at 2am trying to soothe the trapped wind.
Now Harry is eating solid foods 3 times a day, finishing his bottles with no hue pressure to wind him correctly and we are much more relaxed parents.
Thank you Emma. Keep doing the work you are doing to change the narrative on reflux."
"Emma has been extremely helpful over the last few weeks. I reached out to her as I had concerns about my newborn baby. Emma responded to me very quickly and helped with lots of advise and tips, as well as pointing me in the right direction to other professions for my baby's potential tongue tie and an osteopath for her tension. Emma really cared and empathised what we were going through and wanted to resolve any discomfort for my baby and myself (as I was breastfeeding), as quickly as possible. I received lots of information including videos, which helped me understand better rather than seeing everything in a written form or remembering from an appointment. My baby is now a lot better and I have been able to continue to breastfeed without it hurting. Thank you Emma! "
"Emma has been absolutely amazing regarding my newborn baby's reflux. My son was in such discomfort and both my baby and me were not very happy at all. He was in so much pain that he was crying pretty much all day when not on my breast but even then he was just so fussy. With her in depth review and one to one approach, within weeks our baby was a different baby. Even now he is pretty much the most chill baby because he is so much happier. We are beyond grateful for Emma and extent knowledge in reflux and with her help it meant we didn't have to resort to medication for intervention. Thank you Emma for being so understanding and guiding us, allowing us to have a much more content baby, no reflux and more enjoyable parenting experience. You truly are amazing!"
"So pleased I reached out to Emma to help with my 5month old reflux baby. She really helped me to get to the bottom of what was causing the reflux and came up with suggestions that I would simply never had thought of. Her expertise is fantastic and I would highly recommend Emma to anyone looking to get to the bottom of reflux issues."
" I could not recommend Emma enough. I only wish I would of found her sooner. I am based in the US and my baby boy was suffering from severe reflux which included vomiting, crying, poor weight gain, etc. My paediatrician was no help so I decided to take matters into my own hands. I found Emma on Instagram and immediately reached out. By that next week we had a consultation and she had a full list of recommendations for me and my boy. Sure enough my son had a tongue tie, poor latch, and corn/soy allergy. After a month, my boy is eating better than ever and is a happy baby.
We would not be in this position without Emma. Forever grateful for her."
"Emma has been amazing and gone above and beyond to help me and my baby girl.
I was at a loss and my postpartum depression was getting worse, especially seeing my baby so uncomfortable and unhappy.
Since seeking help from Emma, I now feel educated on the symptoms of reflux and it’s improved massively without the need for medication.
Emma has been there at all hours of the day, only a whatsapp away and given me so much advice when I’m panicking as a first time mum!
My baby is so much happier and I am so much more confident!
Would definitely recommend doing the course with Emma.
Thank you so much"
" Emma has been so helpful going above and beyond after our initial call to check in and offer advice and knowledge. Having first hand experience with her own son makes her empathetic as well as professional and although we are still on our journey to working out my baby’s reflux causes, I am so much more aware than I was before of the potential issues.
Thank you, Emma!"
" Emma was very helpful in identifying the cause for my son’s reflux. He suffered quite badly with reflux from birth and finally at around 9 weeks old I reached out to Emma for help. I had already spoken to my health visitor and gp and they did not seem to want to help or take his reflux seriously as he was ‘healthy and gaining weight’. Emma’s advice and expertise have helped reduce my son’s reflux significantly and he and I are so much happier. I would not hesitate to recommend Emma to any parent with a baby suffering with reflux "
"So grateful I found Emma! Our little boy was suffering with ongoing symptoms of reflux and we'd tried so many things already. Emma put so much work into finding what was going on, we've seen so many improvements and we've learnt so much on the way. She's continued to be an amazing support even post working together, answering questions and keeping in touch. Thank you!!"
"Emma has been an amazing help to us with our son. I can't recommend her enough! We had been struggling with his reflux and constantly being uncomfortable. With Emma's knowledge we made a few changes such as taking him off his reflux medication as we soon realised it didn't agree with him and both suspected a cows milk allergy. Since changing formula and following her oral play guide, we have noticed such a change in our son the spitting up has reduced massively and he's so much happier and more content. He's like a changed little boy.
I'd highly recommend for anyone to explore options and giving your some sanity back in your life for and being able to enjoy the precious moments even more with your child. Emma is also so helpful after your first initial call in giving you advice and ideas of whay to do next. When we looked into changing formula she also suggested what would help him and the best type to get if we needed it"
"Emma provided great insight and support around our sons silent reflux, particular around understanding what may have been the underlying problems and also lots of suggestions on how to tackle it. She has helped change our very difficult 2 month old into a very happy little boy again."
"We found Emma in our desperation due to having a very unhappy 5 week old baby, which in turn was extremely upsetting to us both. Emma was efficient and quick in making initial contact. Once we provided everything she needed we had a very in-depth zoom call where Emma explained her findings and how we should move forward. All within a few days - we had had 2 weeks fighting with doctors and other healthcare professionals, where they just palmed us off as first time parents. Emma listened and after fixing the issues Emma found, we now have a new baby and can finally enjoy the newborn stage. I will forever be grateful to Emma and cannot recommend her enough. If you are at the end of your tether, please don't wait, just message Emma. She WILL help you."
" Emma is so knowledgable about all things reflux and helped me to work through what could have been causing it with my little one. Her oral play guide was so useful after my baby’s second tongue tie division.
If you feel something isn’t right with your baby but the doctors won’t listen, reach out to Emma! Without her I wouldn’t have known that reflux is a symptom not a diagnosis and my baby would still be suffering now!"
"Emma is lovely, so helpful, knowledge and full of resources! She gave me lots of advice to help me with my son's silent reflux and took a genuine interest in how we were getting on. She was also kind enough to share her very handy oral play guide with us, which was easy to understand and follow. Thank you so much Emma."
"Emma provided support virtually to help with my daughter's silent reflux. I was so impressed with her knowledge and understanding of reflux and what we can try to make things better for our little girl. She provided lots advice and practical suggestions as well as materials to help further guide us with some of the suggestions. Emma is clearly so passionate invested in helping families and has stayed in regular contact to continue support us ."
"I really recommend reaching out to Emma for support and guidance. I am so glad I did.
My second daughter suffered with silent reflux and colic. I felt helpless and the GP was no help at all and didn’t even see my baby in person at 10 days old after I called for help and was in tears. She just prescribed my daughter gaviscon over the phone and said it’s normal lots of babies have this and if she gets constipated I can prescribe laxities.
I felt even worse- I couldn’t help my baby crying in pain and was told medicine might help but it’s normal and she basically had to suffer.
I luckily came across Emma for support and I am so pleased I did. She supported me and agreed there’s always a reason and we can work together to help her not be in pain. She was brilliant and just speaking to her for the initial consultation made me feel better and less of a failure straight away. Finally someone agreed there will always be a reason!
I collected photographs and videos to send to Emma to help give us some support. She shared videos of massages to help and different ways to feed which may help. We did a mixture of all and also visited an osteopath recommended by Emma and we started to see a change in our baby. No medication.
She’s now 6months, weaning and feeding happily and sleeping much better. She smiles all day and is a happy baby and we are enjoying every moment now knowing she’s not in pain all the time."
"Emma worked with us remotely and was still able to do a thorough and compassionate assessment. She was extremely knowledgable, shared resources and had very helpful advice. Emma helped our little one and our family be in a much happier place. Thank you again."
"I spoke to Emma during a stressful period that I was going through when my baby was 4 months old. I was breastfeeding and my baby had a reflux problem that the Drs said was normal.
Emma was great, she had lots of tips and helpful and useful information to help me evaluate the issue and help overcome the issues. After using Emma’s advice , I found that my babies reflux had improved and my knowledge on the subject was greater.
Thanks Emma for your kindness in taking the time to listen and give your advice. I really appreciate your time that you gave me and your help. Kayleigh and baby Joshua"
